Lets Talk About How we can Make Swimming More Inclusive

We are SWiRL Global; co-founded by designer Rachael and swim teacher Steph a neurodiverse team who are both parents to neurodivergent children. As a company we focus on inclusion and community in aquatics, we innovate to create sensory considered products for those learning to swim. Our podcast series is about community and signposting; bringing you information to make aquatics more inclusive, we draw on our own experiences to help others, chatting to professionals that can guide parents that are walking a similar path to us.

Need additional support to Help Make your Service or Business more Inclusive?

Inclusive design offers choice where a single design solution cannot, an inclusive environment does not attempt to meet every need, it addresses exclusion and will often achieve superior solutions that benefit everyone.

Key design features that are also considered to create a product that is for all, are giving the user Safety, Independence, Dignity and Confidence. In designing our products and services our development and research focused on capturing the views and experiences of users from a variety of backgrounds. Toomany times we have seen community engagement that only goes to one demographic or type of community which results in services and products that are not inclusive of the whole population. To be an inclusive business is to hear all voices, and to ensure that our product design and services meet the needs of those voices.

All our products and services at SWIRL have been designed with community input and engagement. We are driven to create and provide based on the key principals that:

  • Inclusive design places people at the heart of the design process.

  • Inclusive design acknowledges diversity and difference.

  • Inclusive design offers choice where a single design solution cannot.

  • Inclusive design provides for flexibility in use.

  • Inclusive design provides buildings and environments that are convenient and enjoyable to use for everyone.

By applying the same high design standards to meet the access requirements of all users, our design outcomes embrace everyone on equal terms.
